Field Dilemmas and Path Reconstruction: An Action Research on Improving Digital Literacy of Foreign Language Teachers in Ningxia Universities

Yiwei Wang(Ningxia University)

Abstract

Against the backdrop of educational digitalization, this study focuses on the development of digital literacy among foreign-language teachers in higher-education institutions located in ethnic-minority regions of western China. Taking foreign-language teachers in Ningxia as participants, the research employs action-research methodology to systematically examine the field dilemmas they encounter in digital teaching. Based on the standards for Teachers’ Digital Literacy and the characteristics of foreign language disciplines, the study constructs a five-dimensional competence framework covering cross-cultural digital communication, digital resource integration, digital teaching innovation, digital assessment, and professional sustainable development, and proposes a path for improving digital literacy of foreign language teachers in western universities characterized by resource construction, technology empowerment, and data-driven practice. The research results provide a referential theoretical framework and operational paradigm for the professional development of foreign language teachers in western universities, and have practical and far-reaching significance for accelerating the digital transformation of regional higher education and promoting the digital international communication of ethnic cultures.
